26-27 Season

Our tryouts are not based on a set list of required skills. Instead, throughout the tryout process, dancers will learn variations of skills that challenge all levels. We encourage dancers to perform the skills at the variation level they feel most confident in. Our goal is to see each dancer showcase their strengths and potential.

To get a better idea of the types and styles of skills we train and compete with, we recommend reviewing our past competition videos on our highlights page.

While your training should be tailored to your particular skill level and goals, see below for a few recommendations that will help you develop a well-rounded plan.

1. Strength & Conditioning: While dance technique is very important, strength and endurance is key to take your training to the next level. Beyond dance training, we would highly recommend joining a gym or exploring workout classes to build overall strength.

2. Dance Training

   1. SPARK classes and recovery @ Upswing: Primary focus on the technique and mastery of fundamental skills necessary to succeed in any dance team program.

   2. RCDT trains at Starstruck Academy of Dance while in season. If you are looking for a studio to train at, Starstruck is familiar with our program and style.

      1. Mock Tryouts are a GREAT way to familiarize yourself with the tryout process and get feedback from experts. We would highly recommend attending!

   3. Dual Star Academy of Dance has great workshops designed for dance team members! Learn more here.

   4. Private lessons are a great way to get individualized feedback, but should not be your only method of training. We encourage dancers to pursue training opportunities that improve their overall well-roundedness (different dance styles, picking up choreography, pom technique, overall strength & endurance, performance, etc.).

Our program, and the high school dance environment as a whole, is growing and changing every year!
